Getting in Al Green's Pants

I'll start at the beginning.

Last night my boyfriend came home from work and was all excited because he got an Al Green's Greatest Hits record for five bucks earlier in the day. The album cover is pretty well known. It's the one were he's shirtless and has a sorta come-hithery look on his face.

Or, at least that how I would've thought of it before. You see, upon seeing this record up close and personal, I noticed how FREAKING AMAZING HIS PANTS ARE. White, lace up, floral embroidered awesomeness. I turned the cover over in hope that there would be a better picture of them.

Well, there wasn't really, but there were four pictures of him wearing the matching jacket! I'm less impressed with the jacket but it did let me get a better taste of what the pants are all about. I would totally wear those pants, the jacket not so much.

After this, I drank some Rolling Rock and repeatedly refreshed my Etsy pag---Sorry. Not relevant to the story.

Fast forward to this morning where I see that the Isabel Marant show pics have been posted online and what do I see.....

Holy guacamole! White, floral embroidered pants (with possible lacing on the sides)! They come in pink too.

And look at the one's Ms. Marant herself is wearing.
Pretty damn Al Green-ish. Will these catch on as a trend? Does this mean Forever21 and H&M, etc etc will make copies and I'll get my own? Either way, I love shit like this! (Coincidences, not embroirdered pants, though apparently I love those too.)

There's nothing in this world that I wouldn't do

Warm weather (it's 83 degrees right now! farenheit!) = reggaeton and annoying my entire apartment building. Sorry guys! Not my fault some of you decided to blast metal at very inappropriate times recently! Here's hoping y'all like Tito El Bambino and Beanie Man!

"The rhythm is the bass and the bass is the treble"

Me: Oh shit Nate Dogg died
Michael: That sucks. I guess now he's at the great eastside motel in the sky

RIP.

I dunno if its the strange state of mind I've been in the whole day, but when this song just came on Pandora I thought, "I fucking love this song." I've heard it before of course but it just really hit me for some reason just now.

Yes, its' "Sweet Child O' Mine." Okay. Sue me.

In other news all my classes are overlapping each other. This has happened before so the only conclusion that I can come to is that this was specifically designed for me with disregard to all the other students. I read three articles today on the history of the essay. Somethin' to do with some guy called like Michel Montague or something. Look how well that stuck.

Banish plump Jack, and banish all the world

I love this song!! Yes, I know it because of Step Up 3D. Yes, it was awesome. And, no, I can't wait until dance class next semester.

Ps. How many Halloween costume ideas were in there?!

Jeezy

Don't worry. I'm working on getting an "I Heart It" t-shirt.

< 3

Wait. "Heartbeats" was by The Knife FIRST and Jose Gonzalez was the one covering it.

Apparently a reversal of the oh-man-I-like-this-song-wait-this-is-a-cover-well-damn exists and its awesome. I liked The Knife's version better but just always thought that was the cover. Nice. Good job y'all.

Thunder only happens when it's raining

Apparently, when left at my house alone for too long I turn in to some kinda weird '70s housewife that dances around to Fleetwood Mac in a headscarf and robe and drinks peach-vodka drinks...
and I like it!

Dream

Naw not them. But super weird that they were signed to Bad Boy... I miss this kinda dancing in music videos :( Sideways rooms/people on the ceiling or wall were so in.

I had a dream during my four hour long nap today that I was in a styling contest for H&M and it was very stressful and they suggested I add suspenders to one of the outfits I picked out and I was trying to decide between using the suspenders or staying true to myself and I didn't even make it to the part of the dream with the photoshoot so really it was not even worth it.

PS. THIS IS ONE OF THE COOLEST OUTFITS I'VE EVER SEEN:

Christine Centenara from Harper's Bazaar Australia. Sweatpants. Zebra. AND crazy (hopefully fake) fur. I lit'rly just died.

Spend the Night

Definitely getting into this band again. I remember thinking they were so cool like ten years ago when I would see them on MTV2 (us non-cable people still got MTV2 for some reason). I wanted to be in a girl band so bad. Still do, really.

They totally dressed similar to how I did at the time! Real early 2000s style right there.

A older pic. Lookin' super cool.

Ain't too proud to beg

Today as I was walking down the street wearing these: And carrying this:

I thought to myself, what day is it? Then I remembered it was August 10th 1993.

I picked up that fine piece of art at the Goodwill dollar a pound today to complement the Spice Girls CD insert on my bedroom door. Who are the Spice Girls you ask? Wait a couple years. Your mind will be blown!

I'm about to go have the spicy tuna roll of my dreamsssssss!!! (aka the spicy tuna roll I've been wanting since yesterday morning!) Also, I watched some Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami today when I got home from work. It's been a dang good day.
PS.
I wish my laundrymat was like that!

Yes Please

Virgin Freefest (yes, FREE, it's awesome) annouced their lineup yesterday and had me at M.I.A. But also, Ludacris will be there which will be funny/awesome to see but I would never pay for. T.I. who I've seen before and is pretty exciting. As well as Chromeo and Neon Indian in the dance area!! And Jimmy Eat World which I will probably avoid unless I'm trashed enough to get really stoked on dancing and singing along to "The Middle" (this is a very likely outcome). AND Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes AND Joan Jett. JOAN JETT!!!!

Okay. I'm done. I'm way to stoked. Although, not as stoked as last year when I saw this for free:

Oh hello again Rivers Cuomo...

Tickets go on "sale" this Saturday at 10am but the show isn't until all the way in September on the 25th.

Pandora Three...? Is it three posts now on Pandora screwing up things...?

Well this one isn't a complaint, its just funny.

Pandora has this new feature that pulls up lyrics and bios for the song and artist that is currently playing. For example, I am currently listening to "Rude Boy" by Rihanna. Her bio reads:

"Not to be confused with "Umbrella" hitmaker Rihanna, Leeds-born Rhianna breifly attracted attention in the early noughties thanks to her stylish retro Afro and blend of jazz-funk and soul-pop. Born Rhianna Hannah Louise Kenny in 1983, she grew up in a musical family with her Cuban mother and English father of...."

Wait.... But.... I thought that Rihanna of "Rude Boy" was Rihanna of "Umbrella" fame? Ohhh. Right. "Rude Boy" is by that lady with an Afro from Leeds. How could I forget?!

NOT! Way to go Pandora. Her bio reads the correct info if you click on the "full bio" link but otherwise things "get a little crazy, baby."

How I Will Get an A+ on My Final 301 Paper Even Though A+ Isn't a Grade He Uses and the Paper Isn't Very Good

As long as I'm on this giving-myself-too-much-credit-for-weird-connections-that-only-I- appreciate-in-subpar-final-papers kick, I thought I'd mention what might be the best one yet. Allow me to set the scene: The paper is on how Diaz expands upon the work of Derek Walcott (specifically, the poem of Walcott's that Diaz used as an epigraph) in The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao. I talk about how both writers use a lot of references to films and books and music and Spanish language, etc. in order to emphasize a search for idenity in the characters (or something like that... as I said, the paper isn't very good). But! I was listening to Vampire Weekend while writing and had the brilliant idea to title the paper "Walcott All the Way to New Jersey." Oscar Wao is set in New Jersey! Get it?! Get it?! I think I'm gonna add a footnote about it and my professor will be like, "Omg! Diaz used tons of footnotes and obscure references to things! This is so cleverly brilliant and brilliantly clever that I can overlook all the many downfalls of this paper having any clear progression! A+!"
