Long time, no blog. I've been busy starting my new job and trying to get things going with my store. This New Year's Eve was a bit of an emotional one for me between feeling down earlier in the day about not having met many new people in New York, and then getting very happily teary at midnight about having actually accomplished moving here this year.
I do have a couple goals for 2012. Namely:
1. Continuing working on my store. Owning an online clothing shop is something I've wanted for a long time. I'm proud that I actually went through with it, but it's something that is hard to be successful at in terms of sales. I know that I need to advertise harder and add more items. Anyone reading this have any suggestions for my site? Does it look legitimate? What do you want out of an online store that it is lacking? The store is at http://www.the-launderette.com/
2. Host a New Year's party next New Year's. Even if I don't literally host one, the main point behind this goal is to be more outgoing and meet more people in New York. I have great friends back home in Richmond, but it'd be awesome to know more people here too since I love this city so much.
3. Apply, apply, apply for internships and jobs that interest me. I'm back to working reception in a medical clinic again, and while everyone there is great, it's not exactly what I want to be doing. I've been applying for writing and fashion related internships but I need to keep trying and apply more often. Currently, I am waiting to hear back about working at Fashion Week this February and I am supposed to get an email this week!

cute leopard platforms! xx
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that you're being tough and making your dreams come true! That's something any one can be proud of.
ReplyDeleteYour store looks great and is totally legit. The only suggestion (that might help in the future) is invest in higher quality photos and maybe change the description font to black or gray. If the photos are super fancy than they are more appealing and people are more likely to purchase. Otherwise, I think you're on your way.
As far as advertising, maybe send out some pieces to bloggers? Have them send 'em back? Kind of like a sponsorship? People will see the banner on other pages...could help!
Good luck and happy new year!
Thanks for stopping by my blog - all the best to you with your store! Not many people have the initiative to launch a project like that, so it's a great accomplishment.
